About me
My name is Yorrick Jansen, and I am an AWS certified Data Engineer. I work as a freelancer, offering data solutions to a variety of clients across different sectors.
I have 18 years of experience working in cloud infrastructure and backend systems across gaming, scientific publishing, automotive, finance, healthcare and advertising technology industries. During my time in these sectors, I have successfully led multiple high-impact projects, including designing and operating a white-labeled telemetry system for a portfolio of games at Phoenix Labs, and spearheading Serverless and real time data processing migrations at 1Science (later acquired by Elsevier). I've consistently demonstrated expertise in optimizing system performance, controlling costs, and implementing robust security standards.
I'm an expert on AWS cloud architecture, data pipelines, and Serverless computing, with deep experience in technologies like Terraform, Pulumi, FastAPI, Pydantic and Spark. My expertise has been recognized through 3 AWS certifications and successful implementation of large-scale data processing systems that handle both batch and streaming workloads.
I believe in building efficient, scalable systems that deliver real business value. My approach combines technical expertise with a strong focus on operational excellence, ensuring that systems are not only powerful but also reliable, secure, and cost-effective.
In my downtime, I stay current with emerging technologies, particularly in the field of Generative AI and cloud infrastructure. I also enjoy doing riding bikes, running, and cooking. If you're interested in speaking with me about cloud architecture, data engineering, or Serverless solutions, please send me a brief message and connect with me.
